Tanker 2

Macclesfield Tanker 2

Tanker 2 was bought and constructed by the members of Macclesfield Fire Brigade after years of fund raising. Designed by the members as well, it was purpose built to carry out a role in the variety of the emergencies we face in this particular community and surrounds. While not as large water carrying wise as Tanker 1, the pump is sourced from the same vehicle, and does an excellent job for fire fighting. It, like Tanker 1 can source water from static supplies and provide just as much liters per minute and pressure as a tanker.

The rear section and the item's this appliance carries is significantly different to the tanker however - this vehicle is an amalgamation of tanker fire fighting capabilities and property salvage more than anything else. As such we carry specialized ventilation and lighting systems designed to minimize the damage that both the fire and fire fighting operations can cause.

The passenger side lockers carry fire fighting branches and adapters, rope and various other pieces of equipment (first aid kits, emergency lighting etc.) as well as the generator and lighting system. While not being able to light up an AFL match, we can do a pretty good job of lighting up a car accident or large house.

The driver's side carries hoses and nozzles, a chain saw and dry chemical fire retardant for fire fighting purposes and is complimented by a large ventilation fan used for literally blowing the smoke out of a house. The versatility of this truck and the size of its stowage means we can carry extra equipment (foam, BA, branches, hose etc.) to and from incidents as required.

The rear of the vehicle is, like on tanker 1, used for pump control and water supply. From here a pump operator can control who has water, where it's coming from and how much might be required at any one time.
